Tampa Man ‘Klout’ Sentenced for Methamphetamine Distribution
Tampa, Florida – U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber has handed down a harsh sentence to Robert Jones IV, also known as ‘Klout’, a 24-year-old Tampa resident, for his involvement in distributing methamphetamine in the city.
According to court documents, Jones sold large quantities of methamphetamine to an undercover police officer in February and March 2023. The brazen transactions took place in St. Petersburg, where Jones would meet the officer at a pre-determined location, hiding the methamphetamine in the gas cap of his vehicle. This reckless behavior put the lives of innocent people at risk, and it’s a stark reminder of the dangers of the opioid epidemic.
Law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search of Jones’s residence, recovering a stash of assorted drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale, plastic resealable bags, a heat seal, and distribution quantities of methamphetamine. Jones later confessed to selling drugs from his home and took ownership of the methamphetamine found in the residence.
This case is a prime example of the DEA and local law enforcement working together to take down drug dealers and dismantle their operations. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and the DEA deserve credit for their tireless efforts in keeping our communities safe.
Jones’s sentence reflects the severity of his crimes. He will serve five years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it. This sends a clear message to those involved in the opioid trade: you will be held accountable.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant United States Attorneys David W.A. Chee and Michael Kenneth prosecuting the case.
As we continue to grapple with the opioid crisis, it’s essential to hold individuals accountable for their actions. This case serves as a reminder that the Grimy Times will be there to shine a light on those who seek to harm our communities.
