A Boston woman has been sentenced for her role in a marijuana delivery service that operated in Massachusetts from 2015 to 2018.
Tatiana Fridkes, 34, of Mattapan, was sentenced to time served and two years of supervised release. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $82,000.
Fridkes pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana on September 23, 2020.
She was indicted in May 2019 in connection with her management of Northern Herb, a marijuana delivery service that operated in Massachusetts from 2015 to 2018.
Northern Herb had total revenue exceeding $14 million from May 2016 through July 2018. However, the company did not withhold or pay taxes on its millions of dollars in marijuana sales, did not remit or pay employment taxes in connection with its workforce, and did not pay taxes on its profits.
Northern Herb was not licensed by Massachusetts or any other governmental entity to sell or distribute marijuana. The company would deliver marijuana to unattended locations, where unknown third parties might have access to it.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys William Abely and John Mulcahy prosecuted the case, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigations, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
The case is a reminder of the consequences of engaging in unlicensed marijuana activity and the importance of complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
