HARRISBURG – A Dominican Republic National, Onassis Alexander Tejeda-Arias, 42, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for illegal reentry and drug trafficking following his deportation.
Tejeda-Arias, who had previously lived in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was deported in October 2018 after serving a three-and-a-half-year sentence for possession with intent to distribute over half a kilogram of heroin in Massachusetts. He returned to the United States in early 2020 and was arrested on October 6, 2022, for significant drug trafficking activities.
The defendant was supplying co-conspirators with bundles of heroin/fentanyl at the time of his arrest. Following his second conviction for drug trafficking, he faced a sentence ranging from two and a half to five years’ imprisonment.
On April 24, 2025, Tejeda-Arias pleaded guilty to federal charges of illegal reentry, leading to the consecutive sentence imposed by Judge Julia K. Munley. After completing his sentences, he will be deported back to the Dominican Republic.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and protecting communities from violent crime. It was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with prosecution handled by Assistant United States Attorney Michael Scalera and Acting United States Attorney John Gurganus.
Tejeda-Arias’s sentence reflects the Department of Justice’s commitment to cracking down on criminal organizations and ensuring justice for victims of drug trafficking.
