Former Terre Haute resident David Roberts, now aged 50, has been handed a 15-year federal prison sentence for his sickening production of child pornography. This disturbing case highlights the ongoing fight against sexual predators in Indiana.
United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler emphasized the unwavering commitment to protect the most vulnerable: ‘Protecting our most vulnerable citizens from sexual predators has been and will remain a top priority of this office.’
The grim revelations began when one victim bravely reported Roberts’ actions to her mother, leading to a Terre Haute Police Department investigation. Search warrants executed at Roberts’ home unearthed over 23,000 images and videos of child pornography on electronic devices.
Prosecutor Tiffany J. Preston detailed the severity of the crime, stating that Roberts had also recorded five additional minor female victims. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Terre Haute Police Department worked tirelessly to bring justice to these victims.
Roberts will serve a total of 15 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release. Minkler warned predators, ‘If you abuse children in the Southern District of Indiana, you can expect the full wrath of federal prosecution.’
