New Orleans Man Charged with Gun and Drug Offenses
Gun and drug offenses have plagued the city of New Orleans for years, and Terrell Muse, a 24-year-old New Orleans man, is the latest to face charges. Muse, a convicted felon, was indicted on April 12 by a federal grand jury for allegedly possessing two firearms and quantities of crack cocaine and heroin.
According to the indictment, Muse illegally possessed two firearms and quantities of crack cocaine and heroin. If convicted on the charges, Muse faces a term of imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans reiterated that the indictment is merely an allegation and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Evans’ office has made it clear that they will pursue all available charges against individuals who engage in gun and drug-related crimes.
The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the New Orleans Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey Sandman is in charge of the prosecution.
