Terrence Joseph Kie, Child Sex Abuse, New Mexico 2012

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Terrence Joseph Kie, a 34-year-old member and resident of the Acoma Pueblo, has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for his child sex abuse conviction.

Kie was charged with abusive sexual contact with a child under the age of 12 and admitted to unlawful sexual contact with a nine-year-old child on August 9, 2011. He pleaded guilty to the crime on December 17, 2012.

Kie’s sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales, DuWayne W. Honahni, Sr., Special Agent in Charge of District IV of the BIA’s Office of Justice Services, and Chief Vincent Mariano of the Acoma Tribal Police Department.

The case was investigated by the Southern Pueblos Agency of the BIA’s Office of Justice Services and the Acoma Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Niki Tapia-Brito.

Kie will be required to register as a sex offender when he completes his prison sentence. He has been in federal custody since his arrest on September 13, 2012.

The Acoma Pueblo community can breathe a sigh of relief now that justice has been served. The people of Acoma deserve to feel safe and secure in their own homes.
