Terry Robert Cousins Jr. Guilty of Possessing Child Pornography

In a shocking turn of events, 34-year-old Terry Robert Cousins Jr. of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to a recent court hearing, Cousins knowingly possessed videos and images in computer graphic files, which involved minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Some of these minors were as young as 12 years old.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Allegheny County Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jessica Lieber Smolar is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The court was told that Cousins will be sentenced on November 7, 2014, at 10 a.m. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Cousins could face a total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. The actual sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offense and Cousins’ prior criminal history.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to protecting the most vulnerable members of our society.
