Eric Dwayne Ned, Cocaine Trafficking with Firearm, Texas 2024

Eric Dwayne Ned, a previously convicted felon, was sentenced to 95 months in federal prison for trafficking cocaine while armed, announced Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Nancy E. Larson. This conviction marks another instance of the Northern District of Texas cracking down on those who continue to disregard the law, even after multiple prior convictions.

Ned, who was arrested multiple times for various crimes, was sentenced by United States District Judge Ada Brown on June 18, 2025. He was found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

Court documents reveal that Ned was arrested in June 2021 for evading arrest, unlawful possession of body armor, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance by state and local authorities. He bonded out of state custody and was arrested again in September 2021 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting arrest.

Ned’s history of violence and disregard for the law continued even while incarcerated. Court records show that he engaged in fights with other inmates and jail staff, further highlighting the need for tougher sentencing in cases like this.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), with Assistant U.S. Attorney John Boyle prosecuting the case. This sentencing serves as a reminder that those who continue to break the law will face severe consequences, even after multiple prior convictions.

Ned’s sentencing is a significant win for the community, as it demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement to holding accountable those who engage in violent and destructive behavior. As the Northern District of Texas continues to crack down on crime, it is clear that those who disregard the law will face tough penalties.
