Eric Dwayne Ned, Cocaine Trafficking with a Firearm, Texas 2024

A Texas felon with multiple prior convictions has been sentenced to 95 months in federal prison for trafficking cocaine while armed, announced Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Nancy E. Larson.

Eric Dwayne Ned, 36, of Texas, was sentenced by United States District Judge Ada Brown to 95 months in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

Court documents reveal a pattern of arrests and convictions for Ned, dating back to June 2021, when he was arrested for evading arrest, unlawful possession of body armor, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance by state and local authorities.

After bonding out of state custody, Ned was arrested again in September 2021 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting arrest. His third arrest came in March 2022, when he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and delivery of a controlled substance.

Special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) launched an investigation into Ned’s activities, which led to federal charges. In addition to his prior felony convictions, court records show that Ned continued to commit violent acts while incarcerated, including engaging in fights with other inmates and jail staff.

Ned’s long history of violent and criminal behavior has finally caught up with him, as he faces a significant prison sentence for his latest crimes. Assistant U.S. Attorney John Boyle prosecuted the case, bringing justice to the people of Texas.

As the people of Texas continue to struggle with the scourge of gun and cocaine trafficking, this sentence serves as a reminder that law enforcement and the justice system are committed to holding accountable those who would bring harm to our communities.

The ATF and the Northern District of Texas U.S. Attorney’s Office have demonstrated their dedication to keeping our communities safe from the scourge of gun and cocaine trafficking.
