PASCO, FL – Thomas Bellere, 40, also known as “Tommy Gunz,” has admitted to running meth and illegally packing heat. The Pasco resident pleaded guilty this week to possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. Bellere is staring down a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in federal prison, with the potential for life behind bars.
The bust went down January 30, 2022, when a Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputy, aided by a drug-sniffing canine, zeroed in on Bellere’s vehicle. The car sported stolen plates, raising immediate red flags. The canine’s alert led to a search, uncovering a stolen Smith & Wesson model 642, .38 caliber revolver tucked partially under the driver’s seat. But the gun wasn’t the only contraband; deputies also found 107 grams of pure methamphetamine stashed inside.
This wasn’t Bellere’s first rodeo with the law. Court records reveal a lengthy rap sheet including prior convictions for being a felon in possession of a firearm, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in injury, and felony battery. Federal law explicitly prohibits Bellere, due to these convictions, from owning or possessing any firearms or ammunition. He apparently didn’t get the memo.
The investigation was a joint effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Samantha E. Beckman is prosecuting the case, pushing for the maximum penalty given Bellere’s extensive criminal history and the severity of the charges. The firearm seized will be forfeited as evidence of the crime.
Federal authorities are framing this case as part of “Project Safe Neighborhoods” (PSN), a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by fostering collaboration between law enforcement and local communities. The program focuses on building trust, supporting community organizations, prioritizing strategic enforcement, and tracking results – a standard talking point, but one officials insist is key to long-term safety.
A sentencing date for Thomas Bellere has not yet been set. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as they become available. Bellere’s legal team has not yet issued a statement. This case serves as a grim reminder that in Pasco, and across the country, those who choose to traffic drugs and illegally possess firearms will face the full weight of the federal justice system.
