DAYTON, Ohio – In a shocking display of disregard for security protocols, Thomas DiMassimo, 22, of Powder Springs, Ga., jumped the stage during a political rally in Vandalia, Ohio on March 12, 2023.
The brazen act, which put the lives of numerous Secret Service agents and attendees at risk, has finally come to a close with DiMassimo’s guilty plea and sentencing in U.S. District Court.
According to court records, DiMassimo was charged with entering and remaining in a restricted area where a person protected by the Secret Service was temporarily visiting, without lawful authority to do so, which is a misdemeanor offense.
This reckless behavior has landed DiMassimo a year’s probation, effectively banning him from attending any Republican Presidential event.
Acting U.S. Attorney Benjamin C. Glassman commended the response by the U.S. Secret Service, praising their efforts in maintaining the safety of those at the rally.
The court’s decision reflects the importance of respecting the political process and adhering to laws designed to ensure everyone’s safety.
Assistant United States Attorneys Sheila G. Lafferty and Brent Tabacchi were also commended for their representation of the United States in this case.
DiMassimo’s actions have sent a clear message: disregard for security protocols will not be tolerated.
As a result of his guilty plea, DiMassimo has been sentenced to one year probation for jumping the stage during a Trump rally in Vandalia, Ohio on March 12, 2023.
The defendant, who was banned from attending any Republican Presidential event, will have to adhere to the terms of his probation.
