Local Man Charged with Receipt of Child Pornography

Tim Nall, 62, of New Orleans, has been charged with receipt of images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children. The one-count Bill of Information was filed yesterday in a federal court, bringing serious allegations against Nall.

According to the charges, Nall could face a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty years, followed by up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. He may also be required to register as a sex offender.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project marshals federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans emphasized that the Bill of Information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. He praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this matter, stating that their efforts led to the successful prosecution of Nall.

Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg is in charge of prosecution. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse in the state of Louisiana.

Acting U.S. Attorney Evans reiterated the importance of Project Safe Childhood in addressing this critical issue. He encouraged the public to report any suspected cases of child exploitation to the authorities.
