Avondale Man Pleads Guilty to Crack and Heroin Conspiracy

Avondale, LA – Timothy Johnson, a 35-year-old man from Avondale, has pleaded guilty to violating the Federal Controlled Substances Act, specifically for his involvement in a crack and heroin conspiracy.

According to court documents, a search warrant executed at Johnson’s residence in 2013 uncovered approximately 150 grams of cocaine, other controlled substances, and paraphernalia associated with the distribution of narcotics. A subsequent investigation in 2015 led to the interception of a package containing heroin intended for Johnson’s distribution.

Johnson faces a minimum term of five years of imprisonment, a maximum fine of $5,000,000, at least four years of supervised release, and a mandatory $100 special assessment.

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in investigating this matter. Assistant U.S. Attorney James S. C. Baehr is in charge of the prosecution.

Johnson’s guilty plea marks a significant development in the case, which has been ongoing for several years. The investigation and subsequent prosecution have been a collaborative effort between federal and local law enforcement agencies.

As Johnson awaits sentencing, he is currently facing a lengthy prison term and substantial fines. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking and the importance of law enforcement efforts in combating this issue.
