Wire fraud has landed a Clarksville, Tennessee, man in federal prison. Timothy Allen Pew, 43, was sentenced on June 21, 2025, to 1 year and 8 months in federal prison for engaging in a scheme to defraud his former employer.
According to court documents, Pew committed wire fraud by embezzling over $250,000 from his employer. Pew, who was employed as a purchasing manager for a manufacturing company in western Kentucky, used a company credit card to transfer money to his personal PayPal account between March 2023 and January 2023.
The scheme involved multiple fraudulent transactions on the company credit card, with Pew then creating a paper trail to cover it all up. U.S. Attorney Kyle G. Bumgarner of the Western District of Kentucky and Acting Special Agent in Charge Olivia Olson of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Louisville Field Office made the announcement.
Pew was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release, for seven counts of wire fraud. He was also ordered to pay $257,400.08 in restitution. "Pew engaged in a brazen pattern of lies and deception from the outset, lying to his employer about his prior relevant experience, engaging in multiple fraudulent transactions on the company credit card once employed, and then creating a paper trail to cover it all up," said U.S. Attorney Bumgarner.
This case was investigated by the FBI Hopkinsville Satellite Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Raymond McGee, of the U.S. Attorney’s Paducah Branch Office, prosecuted the case. The sentence reflects the egregiousness of Pew’s conduct, with the U.S. Attorney’s office emphasizing the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions.
There is no parole in the federal system, meaning Pew will serve the entirety of his sentence. The case serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in white-collar crime and the importance of integrity in the workplace. As Pew begins his sentence, his former employer can begin to recover from the financial losses incurred as a result of his actions.
