Long Beach Man Charged with Cocaine Trafficking

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Todd Andrew Ayster, 49, of Long Beach, has been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute after a traffic stop in Stockton on August 31, 2014.

A strong odor of axle grease was coming from the vehicle, and the officer’s K9 alerted to narcotics at two locations on the exterior of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle and attached camper led to the recovery of 99 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately $218 pounds.

This case is the product of an investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Administration. If convicted, Ayster faces a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison and a $10 million fine. Ayster is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
