Todd Glenn Dean, 50, Sentenced to Up to Life in Prison for Enticing a Minor

In a shocking turn of events, Todd Glenn Dean, a 50-year-old Rochester man, pleaded guilty to enticing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity. The charges, which carry a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life, were brought against Dean by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation Task Force.

According to court documents, in September 2014, a minor male was approached by the defendant, who handed him a piece of paper with his telephone number on it. The minor then reported the incident to his mother, who exchanged text messages with the defendant. The exchanges, which were later discovered by law enforcement, led to Dean’s arrest.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John J. Field stated that in October 2014, a law enforcement officer, posing as a 15-year-old male, exchanged texts with Dean. The two arranged to meet in Genesee Valley Park for the purpose of having sex. The defendant was arrested when he arrived at the park.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation Task Force, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Rochester Police Department, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations.

Dean’s sentencing is scheduled for August 18, 2015, at 10:00 before U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer.

The guilty plea is a significant victory for law enforcement and a testament to the bravery of the minor who came forward to report the incident.
