Troy Vasquez, a 31-year-old Corpus Christi resident, has admitted to producing child sexual abuse material involving a three-year-old toddler. The investigation began after law enforcement discovered Vasquez uploading child pornography over the internet, leading to a search warrant at his home. The search uncovered child sexual abuse material created the day before, as well as a video recorded two days after Christmas 2024, where Vasquez encourages the toddler to perform sexual acts.
The forensic examination of Vasquez’s phone revealed the disturbing content, which was used as evidence in the case. Vasquez’s guilty plea is a result of the investigation conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Corpus Christi Police Department.
As part of the nationwide initiative Project Safe Childhood, the Department of Justice launched an effort to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The case against Vasquez is a prime example of the initiative’s impact, as it brings a perpetrator to justice and helps to rescue victims.
Vasquez faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a possible $250,000 maximum fine. He will remain in custody pending his sentencing hearing, scheduled for June 20, where U.S. District Judge David Morales will impose the sentence.
