HSI agents in Puerto Rico have busted two men for child exploitation, bringing a dark world of sex crimes into the light. Alen Melendez-Santiago, 25, from Toa Baja, and Edwin Mendez-Perez, 50, from Caguas, face federal charges for preying on minors.
Melendez-Santiago allegedly coerced a 14-year-old girl into making child pornography between November 2025 and January 2026. He’s charged with production of child porn, coercion of a minor, and receipt of child porn, carrying a minimum 15-year prison term to life.
Mendez-Perez, on the other hand, used internet services to lure a female minor into sex acts from 2010 to 2025. He’s charged with coercion, sex crimes, and receipt of child exploitation material, facing up to life in prison.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Daynelle Álvarez-Lora is prosecuting both cases. If convicted, the defendants will face the music – and a lengthy prison sentence.
