Man Sentenced to 92 Months in Prison for Gun Charge
In a shocking turn of events, Tony Lashone Gray, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, was sentenced to 92 months in prison for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. The crime, which took place on December 23, 2013, is a serious offense that has left many in the community reeling.
According to the prosecutors, Gray knowingly possessed a .45 caliber semiautomatic Glock pistol, despite being prohibited from doing so due to his previous convictions. In 2007 and 2012, Gray was convicted of Possession of Cocaine in Mobile County Circuit Court, and in 2000, he was convicted of Theft of Property.
The charge against Gray is a serious one, and it carries significant consequences. Possession of a firearm or ammunition by a previously convicted felon is a violation of Title 18, United States Code Section 922(g)(1). This law prohibits individuals with prior felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition, and it is taken very seriously by law enforcement agencies across the country.
The case against Gray was referred for prosecution by the Mobile Police Department and investigated by Special Agent Nicholas P. Murphy of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. The authorities have made it clear that they will not tolerate individuals who break the law and put themselves and others at risk.
Gray’s sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences of breaking the law. At 92 months, it is a significant term of imprisonment that will keep him off the streets for many years to come. The authorities hope that this sentence will serve as a deterrent to others who may be tempted to break the law.
In a statement, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, Kenyen R. Brown, said that Gray’s sentence was a result of his own actions. ‘Mr. Gray chose to ignore the law and possess a firearm, despite being prohibited from doing so,’ Brown said. ‘His sentence is a direct result of his actions, and it serves as a reminder that the law will be enforced vigorously in our district.’
