TRACY, CA – Alejandra Susana Castillo, 34, of Tracy, has been locked away for five years for her part in a sinister operation that funneled illegal firearms across state lines.
\\
According to the Department of Justice USAO, Castillo and an unnamed co-conspirator engaged in a brazen firearms trafficking scheme, purchasing weapons in Nevada and selling them on the black market in California. The duo’s modus operandi involved Castillo buying guns under her own name, with the co-conspirator, a convicted felon, acting as the middleman.
\\
On July 27, 2024, their collaboration nearly turned deadly when the co-conspirator led law enforcement on a high-speed chase. The pursuit was called off for public safety reasons. Two days later, Castillo was apprehended by police after another officer spotted her car at a gas station, where they discovered a semi-automatic rifle and three magazines.
\\
Investigations revealed that more than 30 firearms were linked to the conspiracy, some of which have been recovered in connection with other crimes. One such firearm was traced back to Castillo just days after its purchase, ending up in Vallejo in the hands of a felon.
\\
Castillo’s sentencing comes as a victory for law enforcement agencies including the ATF, California Highway Patrol, and various local police departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian T. Kinsella was lead prosecutor on the case.
\\
The defendant is ordered to report to prison on November 1, 2025. Her co-conspirator remains in federal custody for related charges.
