Travis Grygla Sentenced for Child Porn and Property Theft

PORTLAND, Ore.—Travis Jay Grygla, a 44-year-old Portland man, has been sentenced to federal prison for distributing child sexual abuse material and fleeing law enforcement in a stolen government vehicle.

Grygla was handed a 262-month sentence, along with a life term of supervised release. He must also pay $27,551.79 in restitution to the U.S. Government.

In April 2024, Homeland Security Investigations uncovered Grygla’s residence harbored child pornography, which he shared with another registered sex offender. Grygla himself was on federal supervised release for a prior 2008 conviction of distributing child porn.

During a search warrant at his residence, Grygla stole a government vehicle and fled, leading to a high-speed chase that ended in Castle Rock, Washington. Grygla pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography and theft of government property on June 2, 2025.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, Portland Police Bureau, Vancouver Police Department, Washington State Patrol, and Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mira Chernick prosecuted the case.

Project Safe Childhood, a DOJ initiative combating child sexual exploitation, brought this case to court. For more information on reporting child exploitation, contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit tips.fbi.gov.
