Houma Man Guilty of Fentanyl Trafficking
A 19-year-old Houma resident has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking and firearms violations in a case investigated by the United States Department of Homeland Security, the Houma Police Department, and the Louisiana State Police.
Trevon Harvey, a Houma resident, pled guilty on October 15, 2024, to possession with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, a quantity of heroin, and cocaine base, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(b)(1)(B) and (b)(1)(C). He also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(8).
As to Count 1, Harvey faces not less than 5 years, and not more than 40 years in prison, and a fine of not more than $5,000,000.00. As to Count 2, he faces not more than 15 years in prison and a fine of not more than $250,000.00. He will also be subject to a term of not less than four years of supervised release as to Count 1 and not more than 3 years as to Count 2. He also faces payment of a mandatory special assessment fee of $200.
According to court records, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Harvey’s residence and located multiple clear plastic bags with suspected heroin/fentanyl and crack cocaine, approximately $2,137.77 in cash, a stolen Glock Model 19, nine-millimeter pistol, with one 15-round magazine and ammunition, a working digital scale, two working metal presses, a blender with white powder residue inside the kitchen, and four bottles of Equate fiber powder, used to cut the drugs.
Harvey’s sentencing is set for January 21, 2025. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Maurice Landrieu of the Narcotics Unit.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics and firearms in the region.
