Trevor Arthur Junior Campbell, 41, Charged with Illegally Re-Entering the U.S. in Ohio

A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging Trevor Arthur Junior Campbell, a 41-year-old Jamaican citizen, with re-entering the United States illegally after being deported to Jamaica, said Carole S. Rendon, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Campbell was previously deported on August 11, 1997 after being convicted of an aggravated felony. He was later found in Cleveland, according to the indictment.

Campbell’s illegal re-entry into the United States is a serious offense, and if convicted, he will face a sentence determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, if any, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation.

The defendant’s sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.

Assistant United States Attorney Karrie D. Howard is prosecuting the case following an investigation by the United States Immigration and Custom Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Campbell is entitled to a fair trial, in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
