True Clark, a 28-year-old man from Eagle Butte, South Dakota, has been sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for larceny.
A federal grand jury indicted Clark in October 2022 for larceny, a crime he pleaded guilty to on December 19, 2022. According to court documents, Clark stole a 2017 Buick Enclave valued at over $20,000 from a residence in Eagle Butte on September 3 or 4, 2022.
The vehicle’s owner discovered the car missing on the morning of September 4, 2022. Thanks to the OnStar system, the vehicle’s location was pinpointed as a specific residence in Cherry Creek, South Dakota. Law enforcement responded and took Clark into custody.
Chief Judge Roberto A. Lange of the U.S. District Court sentenced Clark to 13 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Clark was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $395 and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case.
True Clark was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
