Two Trumbull County men were locked up on federal charges for their alleged roles in a convenience store massacre in Warren, Ohio. Jumal Ellis Rowe, 32, faces accusations of being a felon in possession of a firearm, with prior convictions for drug trafficking and cocaine possession. Rayjon Ray Mcelroy, 25, is charged with possessing ammunition after a previous conviction for domestic violence.
The deadly shooting occurred on August 3 at the Convenient Food Mart, where police responded to multiple gunshots and reports of someone suffering from gunshot wounds. Surveillance footage revealed a dice game outside the store that escalated into a mass shooting in the parking lot. One individual was killed and another injured.
Rowe was spotted with a Glock, Model 23Gen4, .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, while Mcelroy wielded a Kel-Tec Sub 2000, 5.7 caliber folding firearm during the confrontation.
Both men are staring down up to 15 years in federal prison if convicted, according to officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio and the ATF. The investigation was led by the ATF Youngstown Satellite Office, Warren Police Department, and Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant United States Attorney Yasmine Makridis is handling the prosecution, with the reminder that a criminal complaint is not evidence of guilt. The probe continues, and anyone with information can contact the Warren Police Department at 330-841-2658.
