Mark Galen Putnam, Fentanyl & Meth Distribution, Oklahoma 2024

Tulsa Dealer Gets 70 Months for Fentanyl, Meth Push

Tulsa resident Mark Galen Putnam, 41, is headed to the slammer for 70 months after pleading guilty to distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine. Putnam was sentenced on unspecified date by the Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

According to investigators, Putnam sold a baggie of 200 pills containing fentanyl to an undercover officer on September 6, 2023. A week later, on September 14, 2023, law enforcement arrested Putnam after he agreed to sell another 1,600 fentanyl pills. When officers arrested Putnam, they discovered him in possession of more fentanyl pills and approximately 16 grams of methamphetamine.

The charges against Putnam arose from an investigation by the District 27 Drug Task Force, the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Putnam was initially charged with one count of Distribution of Fentanyl, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, and one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. The court ordered the terms to run concurrently.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan Howanitz represented the United States in the case. Putnam will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.

Putnam’s sentence marks a significant blow to the city’s opioid epidemic. As the situation continues to deteriorate, residents are calling for tougher action against those who profit from the crisis.
