Tulsa Man Admits to Child Pornography
A 33-year-old Tulsa man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of possessing child pornography.
Mark McDonough, 33, of Tulsa, admitted to downloading child pornography depicting minors under the age of 12 engaging in sexually explicit conduct from the internet.
McDonough pleaded guilty to one count of possession and attempted possession of child pornography in federal court on Thursday, announced United States Attorney Danny C. Williams Sr. for the Northern District of Oklahoma.
The statutory maximum penalty for the crime is 20 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing has been set for July 17, 2014.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey Gallant on behalf of the United States.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood is a collaborative effort between federal, state and local enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals who exploit children.
