Farrell Man Caught in Cocaine Ring, Sentenced to 70 Months in Prison

A 39-year-old Farrell resident has been handed a stiff sentence for his involvement in a cocaine trafficking operation. Tylon Cousin was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

According to court records, in January and February 2023, Cousin engaged in armed cocaine dealing from his Farrell residence. This is not Cousin’s first run-in with the law; he previously served a 60-month federal prison sentence on a 2012 conviction for similar cocaine dealing that took place between 2009 and 2011.

United States District Judge William S. Stickman IV handed down the sentence in the federal case. In addition to his prison time, Cousin was ordered to serve six years of supervised release after his release from prison.

The investigation that led to Cousin’s capture was a joint effort by the Mercer County Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended the agencies for their work.

Cousin had previously pleaded guilty to the charges in the case. Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller handled the prosecution on behalf of the United States.

The case highlights the ongoing struggle against cocaine trafficking in the region. As law enforcement agencies continue to crack down on these operations, residents are reminded of the severe consequences of involvement in such activities.
