Red Scaffold Man Charged with Assault by Strangulation and Suffocation

A devastating case of domestic violence has come to light in Red Scaffold, South Dakota, as 31-year-old Tyrell Chasing Hawk has been charged with Assault by Strangulation and Suffocation and Assault Resulting in Substantial Bodily Injury to an Intimate Partner.

According to court documents, Chasing Hawk allegedly unlawfully assaulted his intimate partner on May 9, 2017, by strangling and suffocating her, or attempting to do so, resulting in substantial bodily injury to the victim.

The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury on August 16, 2017, carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and up to $200 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
