Newark, N.J. – In a shocking move, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba has announced the creation of a federal task force to preserve and protect the integrity of elections conducted in the District of New Jersey.
The task force, dubbed the Election Integrity Task Force, will be comprised of a team of federal prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, working in conjunction with law enforcement officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other federal agencies.
The Election Integrity Task Force’s objectives include facilitating information sharing between federal, State, and local officials to efficiently remove ineligible voters from State voter lists; prioritizing the investigation and prosecution of election crimes, such as voter registration fraud, casting fraudulent ballots, voting by non-citizens, and foreign interference.
U.S. Attorney Habba emphasized that her office and federal partners are committed to ensuring the integrity of elections in New Jersey and making sure that election administration is in compliance with federal law.
The Election Integrity Task Force will take all necessary steps to achieve election integrity and will vigorously pursue anyone who violates or attempts to violate federal laws designed to safeguard elections.
