U.S. Attorney’s Office Welcomes New Prosecutors, New York 2026
Syracuse, NY – In a move to bolster the fight against crime in the Northern District of New York, the U.S. Attorney’s Office has welcomed a new batch of Assistant U.S. Attorneys and Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys at a training session in Syracuse.
On March 3, 2026, First Assistant U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone gave the welcoming remarks to the new prosecutors, who will be working on a range of cases, including drug prosecutions, firearms prosecutions, and cases related to Project Safe Childhood (PSC).
The training session, which was attended by over a dozen new prosecutors, included presentations by Deputy Criminal Chief and Narcotics and Firearms Chief Nico Commandeur, PSC Coordinator Michael Gadarian, and Senior Litigation Counsel Lisa Fletcher.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarcone welcomed the new staff and expressed his gratitude for their contributions, saying, ‘We are extremely grateful to have you join the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York. We eagerly look forward to the contributions you will make as we work together to uphold our mission and serve the public as civil servants.’
The new prosecutors, who come from various backgrounds, will be working on a range of cases, including those related to narcotics, firearms, and PSC. They will be working closely with experienced prosecutors and law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is served in the Northern District of New York.
Participants at the training included Assistant U.S. Attorneys Paul DerOhannesian, Jeff Brown, Michael Whalen, and Kevin Cheung, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys William Berger (Saratoga County), Kathleen Hofman (Montgomery County), Joseph Frandino (Saratoga County), Marissa Olsen (Madison County), Meghan Horton (Saratoga County), Jed Hudson (Onondaga County), Nolan Pitkin (Jefferson County), Manpreet Kaur (Montgomery County), Sam Rodgers (Madison County), Michael Johnson (Herkimer County), and Arne Soldwedel (Social Security Administration).
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York is committed to upholding the law and protecting the public from crime. The addition of these new prosecutors will help to bolster the office’s efforts and ensure that justice is served in the district.
