BIRMINGHAM, AL – A Birmingham-area physician is facing federal charges so depraved they’ll make your stomach turn. DR. RONALD TAI YOUNG MOON, JR., of Vestavia Hills, was arrested Tuesday and indicted on counts of producing and possessing child pornography, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town and FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp, Jr.
The two-count indictment, filed last week in U.S. District Court, alleges that Moon, a doctor of physical medicine practicing at The Industrial Athlete clinic in Birmingham, produced child pornography sometime between 2007 and 2010. He is also accused of possessing this horrific material on or about January 15th of this year. This isn’t some theoretical threat; the feds say they have evidence.
If convicted on the production charge, Moon faces a monstrous 15 to 30 years behind bars, alongside a maximum fine of $250,000. Possession of child pornography carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison and the same hefty $250,000 fine. We’re talking about a substantial chunk of a life ruined – and rightly so.
The FBI led the investigation into these disturbing allegations. Assistant U.S. Attorney John B. Ward and First Assistant U.S. Attorney Lloyd C. Peeples, III are handling the prosecution, meaning the government is taking this case seriously. Expect a relentless pursuit of justice.
It’s crucial to remember that an indictment is not a conviction. DR. RONALD TAI YOUNG MOON, JR. is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. However, the nature of these charges is profoundly disturbing, and the public deserves to know what’s happening in their communities.
Grimy Times will continue to follow this case closely, bringing you updates as they become available. This isn’t just a legal matter; it’s a moral outrage, and we won’t shy away from exposing the darkness that lurks beneath the surface. Stay tuned for further developments.
