A South Bend man has been sentenced to 27 months in prison for his role in a firearm crime. Valo Neely, 48, of South Bend, Indiana, was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On February 8, 2022, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Neely’s residence in South Bend, Indiana, and recovered four firearms. Neely’s criminal history revealed he had previously been convicted of several felonies, including unarmed robbery, possession of controlled substances, and illegal possession of a firearm, making him prohibited from possessing any firearm or ammunition.
As part of his sentence, Neely will serve 27 months in prison followed by 1 year of supervised release. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated the case, and Assistant United States Attorney Joel R. Gabrielse prosecuted the case.
