Abilene Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison for Child Sex Abuse

Victor Van Taylor, 31, was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for producing child pornography. Taylor was accused of sexually abusing his friend’s four-year-old son, for whom he was babysitting.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, Taylor was charged via criminal complaint in June 2024 and indicted the following month. He pleaded guilty in September 2024 to production of child pornography and was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix to 25 years in federal prison.

Taylor will also be required to register as a sex offender. The child’s mother told officers that the assault likely happened while Taylor was babysitting. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dallas Field Office conducted the investigation, while the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas – Abilene Division prosecuted the case.

A 26-second video of Taylor sexually abusing the child was identified on the dark web in June 2024. When law enforcement executed a search warrant at his home, Taylor admitted to producing the video and posting it online in exchange for other child sexual abuse material.
