Omaha Woman Sentenced for Her Role in Multi-State Methamphetamine Conspiracy

OMAHA, NE – In a significant blow to the city’s methamphetamine trade, Victoria Bindas, 43, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 121 months’ imprisonment for her role in a multi-state methamphetamine trafficking operation. According to court documents, Bindas was involved in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

The investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, revealed that Bindas was in contact with David Duane Short, the leader of the operation, and obtained multi-ounce quantities of methamphetamine from him. The deals between Short and Bindas were monitored by law enforcement, who tracked Bindas’ involvement in purchasing at least 1200 grams of methamphetamine from Short to distribute.

Bindas’ sentence is part of a larger effort to dismantle a multi-state drug trafficking organization. Several other members of the organization have already been sentenced, including Edward Glen Summers, who was sentenced to 180 months’ imprisonment; Kaden Henry, who was sentenced to 168 months’ imprisonment; and David Duane Short, who was sentenced to 210 months’ imprisonment.

The investigation was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation. OCDETF uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Omaha Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, IRS’s Criminal Investigations, and the Pottawattamie County (Iowa) Sheriff’s Office. This massive effort demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies to take down the methamphetamine trade and keep communities safe.

Bindas’ sentence serves as a reminder that those involved in the methamphetamine trade will be held accountable for their actions. The investigation and subsequent sentencing of Bindas and others involved in this operation are a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies to dismantling the methamphetamine trade and keeping communities safe.
