Violent Gang Members Sentenced for Shooting Spree
A violent gang shooting in Fort Wayne has resulted in three members of the ‘2500’ street gang being sentenced to lengthy prison terms.
On October 4, 2014, William D. Beamon, aka ‘Lil’ Will,’ 28, of Fort Wayne, along with Kyombe D. Bolden, ‘aka Pudge,’ 30, of Bloomington, and Ronnie D. Burrus, ‘aka Ronnie Robinson, Ronnie Burris and Yung Ron,’ 28, of Fort Wayne and Bloomington, engaged in a shooting spree that left innocent bystanders in danger.
The defendants, who were members of the ‘2500’ street gang, had received an insulting social media video from rival gang members and retaliated by hunting down the rivals and shooting at them. The shooting resulted in approximately 50 shots being fired, with one victim suffering a minor wound.
Beamon was sentenced to 360 months (30 years) in prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release. Bolden received a sentence of 324 months (27 years) in prison, also followed by 2 years of supervised release. Burrus was sentenced to 360 months (30 years) in prison, with 2 years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
The sentencing comes after the defendants pleaded guilty to charges of attempted assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
The investigation was a multi-agency effort involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Gang Task Force, the Allen County Police Department, the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Indiana State Police. Assistant United States Attorneys Anthony W. Geller and Stacey R. Speith prosecuted the case.
The sentencing of Beamon, Bolden, and Burrus is a reminder that the FBI and our law enforcement partners will continue to work together to remove violent gang activity from our streets.
