GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Brian Charles Tolley, 39, a former executive at Boca Raton’s PartsBase, Inc., has been indicted for an alleged scheme involving $1.6 million in fraudulent reimbursements from government contracts.
Tolley, who held various positions within the company from 2001 to 2014, is accused of submitting forged military and government documents between 2007 and 2013. He then reportedly claimed false expenses for which PartsBase reimbursed him.
According to authorities, Tolley used the stolen funds to purchase luxury vehicles and property in Virginia. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida has vowed to pursue those who misuse corporate positions for personal gain, with Tolley’s case being a clear example.
Wifredo A. Ferrer, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, emphasized the office’s dedication to combating financial fraud, stating, ‘Today’s charges evidence our commitment to pursue those who abuse their corporate positions for their own financial gain.’
The Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command have been instrumental in this investigation, with Special Agent in Charge John F. Khin noting that individuals who commit such fraud undermine the integrity of federal procurement processes.
Tolley faces a lengthy sentence if convicted, including up to 20 years for each count of wire fraud and identity theft, five years for possession of counterfeit government seals, and 10 years for money laundering. He also faces a mandatory two-year sentence for each charge of aggravated identity theft. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Osborne.
