Crime and Punishment in the Green Mountain State: Lyndonville’s Keith Miller Faces Justice
A 44-year-old Lyndonville man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for his role in the possession of child pornography. According to court records, Keith Miller has been found guilty of storing explicit images of minors on his computer.
As part of an online investigation into the acquisition of child pornography by computer, federal agents determined that a computer at Miller’s residence had downloaded such content. On February 19, 2013, agents executed a federal search warrant at Miller’s residence and subsequently analyzed his computer’s files.
The forensic analysis revealed that Miller had downloaded a substantial number of images of child pornography. Miller admitted to using his computer to download the explicit content, and an investigation was launched.
Miller’s case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Vermont State Police, with the assistance of the Lyndonville Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin J. Doyle.
Miller is represented by David L. McColgin of the Federal Defender’s Office. He will serve his sentence, to be followed by five years of supervised release, including special sex offender conditions such as registering as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
Judge William K. Sessions III handed down the 21-month sentence. Miller is required to surrender to serve his sentence on June 10, 2014.
