Wagoner Man Possesses Explosive Device, Guns
A 26-year-old Wagoner man has pleaded guilty to multiple firearms charges, including possession of an unregistered destructive device and a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
William Henry Craig faces up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the unregistered destructive device charge. He also faces up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the firearm with an obliterated serial number charge.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Wagoner Police Department, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. On April 5, 2016, the agencies searched Craig’s property and found a cricket device, a firearm that is considered a destructive device, and a 20-gauge shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches in length.
The 20-gauge shotgun had a manufacturer’s serial number that had been removed, altered, and obliterated. The devices were not registered to Craig in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
Craig’s guilty plea was accepted by Magistrate Judge Steven P. Shreder in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee. A presentence report will be completed, and sentencing will be scheduled following its completion.
Craig will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service, pending sentencing. Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Harrington represented the United States in the case.
The charges are punishable under Title 26, United States Code, Section 5861(d), 5841, and 5871, and Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(k) and 924(a)(1)(B).
