A 58-year-old Erie man has been sentenced to over six years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking ring in western Pennsylvania.
According to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti, Walter Scott McMahon was sentenced to 76 months in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, on his conviction of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan imposed the sentence on McMahon on January 22, 2025.
McMahon was convicted of conspiring with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine from July 2019 to June 2020 in the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Assistant United States Attorney Maureen Sheehan-Balchon prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, which was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration and Pennsylvania State Police.
Additional agencies that participated in the investigation include the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, Erie County District Attorney’s Office, Millcreek Police Department, Erie Bureau of Police, and other local law enforcement agencies.
The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which targets high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations.
