NEW ORLEANS – In a shocking turn of events, 28-year-old Warren Picard has been sentenced to a 96-month term of imprisonment for his role in a firearms offense and misprision of felony.
According to court records, Picard pleaded guilty to a two-count superseding bill of information charging him with conspiracy to possess a firearm by a felon, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371, and misprision of felony, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 4.
On June 29, 2022, Picard pleaded guilty to the charges, which led to his sentencing on October 5, 2022, by U.S. District Judge Lance M. Africk.
The sentence imposed consists of 60 months imprisonment as to the firearms violation and 36 months imprisonment for misprision of a felon, said terms of imprisonment to be served concurrently.
Assistant United States Attorney Greg Kennedy prosecuted this case, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the New Orleans Police Department led the investigation.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, and setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
