SEAN PATRICK, 46, of Watervliet, New York, faced federal prison yesterday after being sentenced to 18 months for his illegal firearms dealing. The grim facts: Patrick, a former gunsmith, admitted to building and selling four non-serialized semi-automatic pistols without a license, evading taxes and paperwork.
According to Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and FBI Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli, this wasn’t just any illegal enterprise; Patrick’s activities were a direct threat to public safety. On November 10, 2022, agents executed a search warrant at his residence, turning up four more homemade guns, an obliterated serial number pistol, assorted gun kits, and over a thousand rounds of ammunition.
“People need to sell firearms the right way,” Sarcone emphasized. “Dealing without a license lands you in federal prison. We won’t tolerate this in New York.” The FBI’s Tremaroli echoed the sentiment: “Patrick’s illegal actions have landed him where he belongs—behind bars. The FBI is committed to keeping our communities safe from such threats.”
Senior District Judge Frederick J. Scullin, Jr., didn’t mince words, imposing a 3-year supervised release term, a $7,500 fine, and ordering the forfeiture of Patrick’s arsenal.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Capital District Safe Streets Gang Task Force, involving law enforcement from federal, state, and local agencies, including the Colonie and Watervliet Police Departments. Assistant U.S. Attorney A.J. Vickey prosecuted the charges against Patrick.
