ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In a ruthless crackdown on drug trafficking, U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. revealed that Christopher Wiesner, 32, from Watkins Glen, NY, has been sentenced to 130 months in federal prison for attempted possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Wiesner’s downfall began on May 16, 2018, when he received a package containing crystal meth from California. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service obtained a search warrant and uncovered the illicit drug shipment. Despite several attempts to retrieve the package, Wiesner was nabbed by law enforcement while trying to claim a fraudulent package.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean C. Eldridge detailed the investigation, stating that Wiesner had purchased the meth from the dark web with intentions to sell it. The conviction and subsequent sentence are the result of an extensive probe led by Boston Division Inspector-in-Charge Joseph W. Cronin, in collaboration with the New York State Police.
Wiesner’s arrest serves as a stark reminder of the postal service’s role in intercepting drug shipments and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to dismantle drug trafficking networks.
