Embezzlement Rocks Local Health Care Business
A West Mifflin woman’s deceitful scheme has finally come to an end. Jill Ellen Bowser, aka Jill D’Angelo, 51, was sentenced to 31 months imprisonment, three years supervised release on each count to run concurrently, and restitution in the amount of $87,307.76 on her conviction of Embezzlement in Connection with Health Care and Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud.
United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon handed down the sentence, which brings an end to a lengthy investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to the information presented to the court, Bowser embezzled $87,000 from a health care business entity where she was employed.
The court was further advised that Bowser used forged prescriptions to acquire controlled substances. This brazen scheme raises serious questions about the integrity of those entrusted with the public’s trust.
Assistant United States Attorney Shaun E. Sweeney prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. The United States Attorney commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their tireless efforts in bringing this case to justice.
As the investigation unfolded, it became clear that Bowser’s actions were not only a betrayal of her employer but also a threat to public health and safety. The fact that she used forged prescriptions to obtain controlled substances is a disturbing example of the dangers of unchecked greed.
