In a scathing blow to the good people of Wilkes and Stanly Counties, the Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that the bonds voted by these two counties for branches of the Southern Railway are valid and must be paid. This high-court decision settles a contentious issue that has been raging through the courts for years. The suits have been the occasion of much denunciation of the people of these two counties, who have been charged with having acted in a manner ‘unbecoming’ to citizens of good standing.
