William Clark, Jr., Meth and Fentanyl Conspiracy, Iowa 2025

A Story City man has been sentenced to 9 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine and fentanyl conspiracy.

According to court documents, William Clark, Jr., 40, of Story City, Iowa, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl on May 8, 2025.

Evidence presented at Clark’s plea and sentencing hearings showed that from January 2024 through April 27, 2024, Clark conspired with two others to distribute at least ½ pound of methamphetamine and more than 1500 pills of fentanyl.

On April 21, 2024, Clark and two others were headed to Colorado to pick up more methamphetamine when they were involved in a high-speed vehicle chase with law enforcement. During the chase, they discarded 1500 fentanyl pills. Clark also made false 911 calls to law enforcement in an attempt to distract them and avoid capture.

Clark’s sentencing was held before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand on October 7, 2025. He was sentenced to 108 months’ imprisonment and must serve a term of four years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

Clark remains in the custody of the United States Marshal until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Ida and Sac County Sheriff’s Offices, the Tri-State Drug Task Force, and other law enforcement agencies.
