A violent attack on the Chickasaw Nation Treasury Building in September 2022 has landed a Pontotoc County resident behind bars for the next 19 years.
On September 7, 2023, William Craig Hollars, 44, of Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the assault and explosives offenses.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, Hollars was sentenced to 235 months in prison for one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country. This sentence is set to be served concurrently with four other counts: Assault of a Dating Partner in Indian Country, Attempt to Damage and Destroy by Explosive, Making a Firearm in Violation of the National Firearms Act, and Carrying an Explosive During the Commission of a Felony.
The additional 120 months in prison for the count of Carrying an Explosive During the Commission of a Felony will be served consecutive to the other sentences. This means Hollars will spend a total of 19 years behind bars.
The crimes occurred on September 6, 2022, in Pontotoc County, within the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation Reservation, in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearing in Muskogee. Hollars will remain in custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.
