William Morrison, Felon in Possession of Firearm, New York 2024

A Buffalo felon has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

William Morrison, 26, of Buffalo, NY, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to being a felon in possession of a firearm, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

The crime occurred on July 19, 2024, in the area of Ashley and Mohr Streets in Buffalo, New York.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, Buffalo Police responded to a report of a man with a gun, and officers observed Morrison running from the rear of the residence. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered from the area of the yard where Morrison had fled.

Morrison was previously convicted of a felony gun charge in Erie County Court in November 2019 and is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the Buffalo Police, under the direction of Commissioner Alphonso Wright, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 5, 2025, before Judge Arcara.
