WASHINGTON – Kamanye Williams, 26, a previously convicted felon from the District of Columbia, was today sentenced to 198 months in federal prison for his role as the gunman in a ruthless series of seven inside-job robberies at a Walgreens drug store in Chinatown, D.C.
Williams pleaded guilty on March 11 to conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act robbery) and pleaded guilty to two counts of using, carrying, possessing, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and aiding and abetting. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
In addition to the lengthy prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Jia M. Cobb ordered Williams to serve five years of supervised release and pay $7,245.75 in restitution.
The coordinated attacks on the Walgreens store at 7th and H Streets, NW, were executed over a seven-month period between July 2023 and February 2024. The co-conspirators, including Gianni Robinson and Walgreen’s store managers Michael Robinson and London Teeter, stole at least $28,983.00 in total.
Williams was shot by a Special Police Officer on February 11, 2024, bringing an end to the spree. Each heist followed the same modus operandi: a masked gunman forced entry during cash transport and robbed employees present in the Manager’s Office.
Michael Robinson and Teeter alternated roles as the ‘victim’ manager, while Williams brazenly discussed the desire for more violent tactics. The investigation revealed text messages among co-conspirators aiming to make the robberies appear genuine. Williams previously served a year of supervised probation after being convicted in 2021 for carrying a pistol without a license.
