Isabel Woman Sentenced for Simple Assault of a Minor, 29-Year-Old Crystal Lee Reeder Ordered to Serve 6 Months of Probation and Pay $25 Fine
A disturbing case of child abuse has come to an end in Isabel, South Dakota, as 29-year-old Crystal Lee Reeder, also known as Crystal Taylor, was sentenced for Simple Assault of a Minor. On November 25, 2013, U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno handed down the sentence, which includes 6 months of probation and a $25 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The case began in May 2012, when the victim, who was under the age of 16 at the time, visited Reeder’s home. During the visit, Reeder asked the victim inappropriate questions and offered her alcohol, which she refused. While the victim was sitting on the couch, Reeder engaged in offensive touching of the victim and Simple Assault of the victim’s person.
Reeder was initially indicted for Child Abuse by a federal grand jury on June 12, 2013. However, she pleaded guilty to Simple Assault of a Minor on September 19, 2013. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cheyenne River Law Enforcement Services.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case, bringing Reeder to justice for her heinous crimes. The sentence handed down by Judge Moreno serves as a reminder that child abuse will not be tolerated in our communities.
